Our New Business Life

So now we start our new business model. It involves working at home, organizing all our vintage fripperies for photography and ease of shipping out to you all, and shows.

The shows start this weekend at the Madison Knitters Guild "knit-in". We are thrilled to be invited this year to their Market Place. We join around 30 other independent businesses focusing on fibres and knitting or crochet accessories. It is at the Bishop O'Connell Center in Madison. You can come check it out tonight from 4-7 and tomorrow from 7-5 for just a $5 entry fee. We are booth 11.

We have 3 more shows confirmed and several more in the works. Watch here, facebook and our website for the details. We should have those up in the next 2 weeks.

Now we just have to finish moving out of our house in Cedarburg early next week. Anybody want to help :) Details of moving the shop out are still in the works as is whether we will be able to do a pop up there any time this spring. Believe us you will be the first to know! All we know is we are really sick of moving......

Saying Goodbye

Well, we are in our last week at Cedarburg. It has been a whirlwind with so many highs and lows. We loved having our little shop first in Mineral Point and then Cedarburg.  We have made so many friends we will miss, learned alot, had lots of fun, but now we are moving on.

We have been working long hours getting our new endeavor Images Stitchery Design ready for our latest wholesale show, prepping, photographing lots of Distraction goodies for ETSY, and packing, packing, packing.

We have loved representing so many talented people through our consignment program and sharing the great products from our family of vendors. Some of these friends will go forward with us and some we have said a fond adieu.

Once we have settled all of us back in Southwest Wisconsin we will be going forward full steam ahead.  

Our calendar is filling in nicely, and plans for the future are swirling through our busy minds. So for now come in and say good bye if you are in the area, otherwise stop back here or keep an eye on us on Facebook or our website and watch our progress.

Our Next Steps

We are so excited! We have 3 confirmed events. There is a fun farm sale in north Illinois in May, a well known antique and flea market in Illinois in April, and an amazing Cottage sale in July in Door County.  Sounds pretty great right???

Changes

We here at Distraction always say we hate to bored more than anything. Hence the constant change at the store, new ideas jumping out at us all the time and always looking the next project, inspiration and challenge. Wellllll change has really come at us with a capital C this time.

Each one of us have had some major changes happen to our personal life in the last 4 months. All good but added up, they have made us realize we can no longer devote the time and love that a full time brick and mortar storefront deserves. So as of March 5th we will be closing our shop in Cedarburg.

The business however lives on! We are devoting ourselves to growing Distraction in many ways. Effective early February we will be taking over Molly's parents wholesale needle accessory business "Images Stitchery" We are super excited to continue on a legacy that they have developed into an international business. Along with this we are going to be doing "fancy fleas, antique shows, and special events as DISTRACTION. As soon as our calendar for this is established we will post it on Facebook, our blog, and our web site. We are also going to be beefing up our selections of what we sell on line. So be sure to check out our ETSY and Second Shout Out selections in March and April.

We hope to see all of you to say good bye in the store and the 25% sale goes on. If all goes according to plan we will be doing our first antique show in April. We will let you all know as soon as we do so you can your Distraction fix.

Freshening up the Nest

We love this time of year for changing things up. The Holidays are done, the house and store cleaned up but sometimes it looks a little empty. Now is when we refine, edit, fluff, and just basically start anew.

We have changed up almost every room in the shop. New colors, new pieces, lots of great ideas for your rooms. Now just spice things up we are having a SALE! Everything (except consignment items) is 25% off!!!! We know, exciting stuff.

With the weather turning colder it is a perfect time to stock up on yarn and supplies to get you through these long winter nights. As usual it is all natural, fair trade, small business or locally made. We have a great selection of all sorts of yarns and great ideas for you to get you started.
